Mammoth catch up/Staycation!

I should update more often. Like I said before, I just can't seem to find the time and motivation to get photos resized, uploaded, reordered and commented about.

Jas's party was great fun. The weather held out for us and she had a great time. She loved us all singing her "Happy Birthday" and my cake wasn't quite as great as expected. The hot weather apparently makes icing a real pain. But it was good enough for a two year old!

The next day we celebrated my Mother-in-Law's 60th at a golf club restaurant in Billinge. The view was spectacular, if a little hazy. It was so hot though. Heat being a long distant dream now, unfortunately.

After that, my parents stayed on an extra day, for various, dull reasons! We decided to go and visit my dad's cousin who runs a B&B in Diggle. The weather was glorious, the views unbelievably good, and we went to a nice pub restaurant just down from where Bill lives. Sadly, he couldn't come too, but we had a lovely, cheap meal. Oscar had a tantrum over the shortage of sausages, but enjoyed his Rhubarb Crumble for pud!

We took a little walk to the railway line (we have a 3 year old, isn't that normal!) and watched the trains heading up and down between Manchester and Leeds. The railway runs beside a restored canal, so we got to watch trains in a pleasant spot for a change. Pics will be uploaded.

My parents left, and then on Friday we returned to London... again... in preparation for my friend's wedding. Emily was my bridesmaid nearly 5 years ago. She married the lovely Chris and we had lovely day. It rained, but it didn't matter at all.

The day before the wedding, we got tickets to see the redbull air race at Docklands. It was a good day, if a little ambitious with a 2 year old girl who couldn't care less. We all enjoyed it though, and the planes were unbelievable. www.redbullairrace.com for more info.

Finally, on Tuesday last week, we went to see C and C and the boys, D, B and L. Span is going to be L's godfather so it was especially nice to see him. He is a gorgeous and sleeps more than his big bruvs!! We had a great night, drinking on a school night, which was not necessarily a good plan, but we had so much fun with the Wii, Youtube lemurs, and A LOT of vino. Brilliant.

The journey home the next day was long, but we had had such a good extended London trip.

Blimey, that sounds like a lot... and it was, but I can honestly say the trip to London was a brilliant way to have a mini-holiday. Or as Chris Evans called it a "staycation" Although I'm not sure visiting family counts as a STAYcation since we weren't even at home!!

Photos to follow... hopefully.
