I need more time

I think I am suffering Sunday Night Blues. This is bound to be a bit rambly and moany. I just wonder if I am expecting too much from myself.

I am doing an German OU course, to help me get onto a degree course next year, I help at Brownies once a week. It takes all my time to get these all done. This week, for example, have homework for German, normal work for German, Brownies on Tuesday and planning on Thursday (in the pub though ) I won't get a night "off" until Friday.

I hardly get any time with Span and I am permanently tired, yet I feel bad that I am not pursuing other things that I have spent money on. I WANT to knit properly but I haven't the energy to practise, I have a sewing machine lying unused and I want to grow veg but there is no way I have the time (or energy), and I just feel guilty. Am I being lazy? Should I just get on with it? Can I ask any more unanswerable questions....?

Obviously, I can't do any of these things with the children, as I need to concentrate on them, and the house, which I do enjoy. But it wears me out by the evening.

On top of this, everyone thinks I have loads of time because I am a SAHM.
How am I going to cope when/if I get into Uni??

Anyone want to invent a time-machine for me so I can get more time?

Nearly the weekend

Not a busy week this week, by our recent standards, but I've not had much time nonetheless.

Tuesday I did Brownies, and for some reason it didn't work. I should have guessed, when two of them clashed heads. R ended up with a bruise on her cheek and A who had clunked, her purely by accident felt very guilty.

Then my usual hit Argosgame, didn't work, and I reduced a new Brownie to tears with "the chocolate game" Never mind. I've put it down to experience. Our Brownies right now seem very immature (a rarity these days) and I think I expected a bit too much from them. In fact, our two most "childish" brownies weren't there, I dread to think how bad it would have been if they'd been there too!

Apart from that I did do *some* knitting, and corrected all my mistakes from the last time I tried! I have German homework to do, so got my normal "class" work done. Its hard going, but I think I know more than I realise, if that makes sense. My Dad has lent me a phrasebook from years ago, but it just has lists. For me, lists are good. I'll sit and learn them when I go to Paris.

Yes, thats right. I'm going to revise my German in Paris. Could get a bit confusing, but I am going to Paris WITHOUT the children. I will have TIME to learn. Lets hope I don't start doing French verbs again!!!

I've got a night out tonight with fellow Blogger Lindyloo, and our friend B. Friend C has decamped to London. How DARE she. Its the inaugral night of "Last Friday of the Month" club. YAY. Hopefully not a sore head tomorrow....

We have a quiet weekend, so we might get things done. I live in hope.

Children Update

Before I go to knit,

Oscar is wonderful. His talking seems to have improved even more. He is amazing. He loves the Duplo I got him last weekend, although it does frustrate him a little.

He won't eat veg. This will become a future challenge I suspect.

Jasmine is commmado crawling all over the place. She does not stop. She also seems to have some intonation in her voice. She was "calling" me the other day. So cute.

She likes to eat, but takes a bite and then loses her grip/forgets to hold on to the food, and so under her highchair is a nightmare. Thank goodness for cleaners. She is 9 months old today.

There was an 8 month old walking at toddler group today... amazing.

Busy busy busy

Goodness! I have been so busy this past week. I haven't had any time to really update.

I drove back from London last Monday. Was in toddler group by 1.30, after arriving home by 12.50.

Then after toddler group I came home for an hour, and then at 4, went to our friends for her birthday tea with the children.

Then brought the kids back and returned to babysit for them. It was a hectic day!

Then on Thursday, I went to Stepping Hill Hospital to work shadow at the Radiography Dept. It was a brilliant, if exhausting day. The evening before had been a leaving dinner for my friend, so I was a little "tired" shall we say....

I have NO idea how Radiographers can be overweight. These people never stop and are on their feed ALL day. I nearly fell asleep on the bus coming home!!

Watch this space for further info on this!

Finally, on Saturday, I helped at another NCT Sale. I had mixed succes, but did get rid of a buggy for a tenner. Not bad going really. Sadly, I left my favourite coat behind, and as of now, its not been found. I am GUTTED, but hoping to get hold of someone at the church tomorrow morning.

The afternoon and evening was spent getting drunk at another leaving do. I ended up doing the barbeque. I don't think anyone was poisoned....

The head was sore the next day... ugh.

Blimey, that was a quick recap of the last week. I am sitting here wondering what to do now... I think I might knit.

Car Boot Fun

We had a fantastic weekend in London. The Car Boot Sale was brilliant. I had a great time. I bought a few things. Some useful, some not. The tally is:

Pumpkin Patch top 50p
Grey pinafore winter dress 50p
Wool cardigan £4 (new though)
Wellies size 9 50p
Duplo, lots £1
Bottles x4 and 2 beakers £1 (no idea why I bought the bottles!
4x cars
a tool kit
a sunhat for Jas

I could have furnished a house with all the things there. It was so so so big (Denham) I am definitely going to go again. There were such cheap toys and furniture. All good recycling of course! he he

Anyway, I am so tired and I have to eat and then go babysit so here is a sneak preview of the children this weekend. Only taken 8.5 months go get a shot like this...

More photos to follow when I can...

Friday 13 April 2007

Hi from London Village

We had a great journey to London this morning. It took 3hrs25 mins with a 15 mins break.

Not a bad Friday the 13th Eh?

I think my parents and sister were very pleased to see Oscar and Jasmine, as much as they were to see their grandma and grandad.

My "darling" son managed to fiddle with the gears while I was doing 70 mph. I thought he was playing with the CDs and then the car revved as we went from 6th to 4th. OMG, I was so so angry. Its the first time I made him cry by telling him off. I must have been stern! IT usually doesn't even get a reaction when I shout!

I went out with my sister this afternoon, into London to celebrate the birthday of her old Housemate. The chap is seriously lucky to be alive as he was hit by a bus a while ago. I'm not totally sure what happened, but he had a rucksack on his back, went into the air and was completely and utterly unhurt. He was checked by paramedics and was sent on his way. Apparently he damaged the bus' windscreen. Definitely something to tell his grandchildren! One of his nine lives has gone, I think!

Tomorrow we have the car boot sale. Hopefully we'll have a good day.

Just some pictures from today. They both enjoyed themselves very much.

Nice day

We had a lovely day today.

We had some friends over for a lovely lunch. The children ate enough and seemed happy.

Then we went to the park. We ended staying for ages. The children were really happy, even though it was fairly busy. The weather was beautiful and I kept seeing people I know.

Its great to live somewhere where I know people, just wandering around the town where I live, I can often see friends, mumfriends, brownies, local oddballs etc etc. I love it. I dont see how I can get this kind of life anywhere else. I feel very lucky today.

In other news, I started a forum tonight! Completely random, and to help another forum i visit expand a bit! A bit cryptic, but I want to keep it a bit quiet. I've been frantically posting and not doing my german homework! OOOOOOps!

Pics to follow, when I can.

My little secret (new) hobby!

I only realised I had it while browsing through my photos last night.

I love taking photos of flowers. Tis the season for it now, so here are some of my favourites. I have shrunk them, and some are older, so not quite as good. I hope you like them!

I think I am going to take my camera out again this week, especially if the weather improves again!

Easter Fun

We had a lovely Easter Break. I can't believe it's all over already!

We had a quiet Good Friday, followed by an improptu BBQ at Teddy's and Co. We ate lots and lots and I had a few beverages.

Saturday was my highlight. We had an Easter Egg Hunt. It was SO much fun. I do have pictures, but none are particularly "eastery" Oscar thoroughly enjoyed the day and was shattered by the end. We had friends stay late and we had a wonderful curry and more wine! I was SO tired afterwards though.

Easter Sunday was quiet and peaceful. We went for a fabulous walk in Fletcher Moss park in the morning. It was the right time to go as the weather turned later on. None of us overdid it on the Easter Eggs.

Today was spent at Span's parents. We had a great time again. Had a lovely dinner and an unexpectedly cold walk to feed some (not very hungry) ducks! Argh.

Back to normal tomorrow. Bums!

Another update on the backside

Backside is better and we found out why it hurt so much

We have a tooth. :) :) :)

My mum saw it and thought we knew! She told me at toddler group and all became clear! I think the tooth next to it is on it's way too, so hopefully she'll perk up a bit.

She had a complete meltdown in the garden, yesterday, which is unheard of. But she was happier after some calpol.

Monday 2 April 2007

Update on the rear end!

Jas's bot is still sore, but she is SO much happier this morning. Extra point for Lindyloo for mentioning teeth! :) Nothing yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if one apprears soon.

I think we'll give her another night on the camomile treatment as it does seem to work. I also bought Metanium which worked well on Oscar.

My mum is arriving today for a short visit. I am looking forward to it, and am trying to find something to do tomorrow.

Sunday 1 April 2007

Quick note!

I meant to do this earlier, and have just remembered to write.

I have just become the proud owner of a fabulous cook book for children. Finger Foods for children

It is brilliant. A lot of it is basic stuff, which you would probably do yourself anyway (sandwiches anyone? :D) but I have found a great breadstick recipe. I never knew it was so easy. They are nice, but do lack salt, so they need to be dipped! I have pictures, I'll post when I get around to downloading.

In other news, Jas has APPALLING nappy rash. Even worse than her brother ever got. It was bleeding in about 6 different places. OMG, I feel so bad. It was so painful for her. Needless to say, I took her nappy off for over an hour when I realised why she was so upset. Then she pooed.... twice. But at least it wasn't on her poor backside. Then I used my tried and tested method for sorting out nappy rash. I do have a link, but I can't find the damn thing!

So, in summary, make up a camomile tea. Let it stew for as long as possible, so its very strong and cold. Then soak a booster in it. Try not to squeeze it too much and then place right next to baby's bottom and put on nappy as normal. It worked within two nights with Oscar. I really hope it works for Jas too.

Thats all for now! Time for bed
