Lazy Sundays part deux and photos

So, didn't *quite* get round to uploading some pics the other day. So here they are now.

The first are Jasmine and her general loveliness.

Having mucho fun rolling around with the nicest tights!

Eating and examining parsnip chips

her new trick

my handsome, growing up, boy

Oscar again with one of his favourite t-shirts One more.
We are having a nice lazy Sunday again today. I was thinking of going out to look at planes, but its grey, windy and now raining. Not sure if I can really be bothered. Might just veg here instead! Will have to go the supermarket later on. I have no milk and want a milkshake for breakfast tomorrow.

Weighing in and spending out

So, Jasmine was weighed as planned on Wednesday. She weighs a very healthy 18lb14oz which is 8.57kg. That is the 91st centile so she has stayed the same right from birth.

The doctor weighed Oscar as well, which wasn't quite as easy as there were far too many nice things to look at and investigate,... however, we reckon he is 15kg, which I believe is 33lbs. Thats the 91st centile again. I definitely breed them big!!

BLW update: just in case you are still reading! Jas had a piece of toast today and she LOVED it. Gummed it, threw it, pushed it around the table, and possibly ate some too. Another hit. I sent Span out for broccoli and grapes today, so will give her those for her tea I think.

Sadly our food didn't go quite so well yesterday. Span was tired, so managed to undercook the chicken. He consulted me and we decided to take what was cooked off, and cook the rest. For some unexplainable reason, he left my dinner (breast meat, cooked) unattended. Needless to say our 2 cats had a veritable feast... and I got no dinner. MEN! In fact I had some lovely bread and chicken later on, but I can tell you I was not pleased.

Span says the bread I had was potato and rosemary bread. It is delicious, but I am confused as to how the potato in involved.

I've just had the benefit of the children BOTH sleeping in the same room for 2 whole hours at the same time. My flabber has been ghasted and the house is tidy! YAY! Sadly I didn't do the sensible thing and have a nap, so am still shattered. I've no idea why, I don't work *that* hard. Ah well, off to babysit tonight for my friend T, so can vegetate there instead of here.

I'm off to the stitch and creative craft fair at Manchester tomorrow, so best to stay off the sauce! I shall no doubt spend a fortune... poor Span!

I'm definitely in a spending phase at the moment. I nabbed Oscar some BRIO train stuff off Ebay yesterday, which I am really pleased about. He is seriously going to LOVE it. It has a Bullet Train like train in it WOOOOOWWEEEEE! Also keep bidding on Ladybird books and Fuzzi Bunz nappies which I probably don't need. I think my winning on Ebay seems to go in phases!

Right, time to deal with the children. I am hoping to post again with photos which are still on the camera... so may well be back then.

6 months old today

Not really had the time to get on here for ages. Jasmine turned 6 months old today so another milestone reached with astonishing speed!

BLW is going superbly well. The girl loves her parsnip, and since the last entry has tried soup (with help from a spoon) rice, roast potato, lamb and cauliflower.

I anticipate a bit of an issue with feeding herself as she really wants to eat, but is struggling a little with her pincer grip. Give her the food and she gets it in the mouth nice and quick, but if you put in front of her, she just pushes it around the table until it falls or she looses her temper (usually the latter of course!)

So overall, the BLW thing is a hit in this house. We are all gaining confidence in Jas's ability to eat and I cannot wait to try new things.

Oscar is doing well too. He had a rough tummy over the weekend, which resulted in some horrendous nappies over the weekend. The best left unsaid about that the better.

We were in London and went to see the Snooker at wembley. It was really good, and much more exciting than I expected. O'Sullivan won, but played badly. Saw Mark Warren of Hustle and John Parrott. Not exactly A-List, but nice none-the-less.

Sorry its brief tonight, I have an early start tomorrow. I want to get her weighed so I know how much she is at 6 months old.

Happy Birthday to me (yesterday)

So I am now 29.

I had a lovely birthday. The children and I had a normal day, with a visit to toddler group and a visit from Ceals and the boys.

Then Span took me to "The Lime Tree Restaurant" Oh my goodness did I eat? I had so much food, it was ridiculous, but it was fantastic.
I had Goats cheese with aparagus, followed by Steak and fat chips, and then Sticky Toffee pud. It was all brilliant, and Span said his was great too.

Poor old Jasmine got Parsnip for her tea!!! But she loved it. I did the same as I did with the carrots and she really couldn't get enough.

Span gave her more tonight and she had loads. I predict lots of farting tomorrow... I do have pictures but I am far too tired to upload them now. I'll save that for tomorrow. I also have a video, but I need to learn how I am to do that.

I had Brownies tonight and we made flapjacks. It was a bit of a disaster as I got the quantities wrong and they ended up with not enough syrup. So, cue me hastily making more, which didn't mix properly. The flapjacks were crumbly, but apparently tasty. I've learnt my lesson though. Always read the cooking instructions first... Ah well. Its done now!

Lazy Sundays

This is Jas with her first bit of carrot. I thought the photos were lovely. She enjoyed it so much, but can't say she actually ate much!

I cut the carrot into batons and put it with a little water in the microwave for 4 minutes, so it didn't go too soft, but soft enough for her to be about to deal with.

On other news, we had a very quiet day. I sorted out the children's clothes (AGAIN!) and tidied up. We had homemade (by Span) tomato and pepper soup for lunch and it was really really good.

We also watched the BDO darts final. Well, actually, I didn't quite watch the end, it was soooo nervewracking. This is the bloke who won.

So, Sunday is nearly over. I'm off to watch a bit of American Football. I don't have an effing clue what is going on, but I do like it to end the weekend. Then bed, then I'm 29!

Nappy Time is Happy Time

We are cloth nappy users. We love it. I have just had a discussion with Span to convince him that we need more nappies. However, I only managed to convince myself that we didn't actually need any... bugger! We use a combination of Motherease Sandy's and Kissaluvs, with a Fuzzi just because I love it! By jiggling our collection around a bit, we don't need to actually buy any more and with the distinct possibility that Oscar will start potty-training soon. Our tandem nappying days are drawing to a close.

I suppose its a good thing we didn't need to spend anything. I have just spent a fortune at Boden. Goodness I love that shop. www.boden.co.uk Their girl stuff is divine, I think I am developing an addiction... ho hum. Don't open the link if you are broke!!!!
My photo today is Oscar, this morning. He asked to wear his tractor t-shirt. First time he has done that. He really is growing up.
We all went with him to celebrate Oscar's friend Chloe's second birthday. We had a lovely time and Chloe got some lovely presents. Her birthday is the day after mine (Tues) so I got a mini cake too. I am saving it for Monday.
Jasmine tried cucumber sticks dipped in Hummous today. She loved it and cried for more.

Food heaven

One of the reasons I started this blog is because I am about to wean Jasmine. As a lot of people know, the current guidelines are to wean from 6 months. We haven't quite managed that, as Jasmine was almost in tears watching us eat, and is not 6 months old until 23 January. Heck, its a lot later than we managed with the boy.

But, we are trying baby-led weaning. This is a relatively new concept (mainstream anyway), which a lady called Gill Rapley has developed. The basic premise is that you give your baby the ability to chose what he or she wants to eat, rather than spooning puree into their mouth. I will be mostly giving Jasmine finger food, while lurking close by to make sure she doesn't choke. Gagging is fine, apparently... oh the joys. www.babyledweaning.com is brilliant for advice and anecdotes.

This evening I gave her sweet potato wedges (Os had them too) and she loved it. It was very messy. Weare having grip issues, though, as she can't manage to hold onto the food properly. She lost her temper I think, when she was watching Os eat, so I gave in and held the wedge in front of her and she launched herself at it with gusto. For records, she probably ate about 20% of what I put in front of her... a good start.

We have a Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair, which is great, but has no tray. This means she is up at the table with us, but I'm not sure she is as comfortable as she could be... I need to work on this I think.

I'm not sure what to try tomorrow. I'm taking things very slowly until she is 6 months, but am thinking carrot next .

Photo time... don't laugh!

So, this is me holding Jas and Oscar eating his apple.

This is really a test to see if I can get this thing to work... its confusing.

Oscar was born 14 September 2004 and Jasmine 23 July 2006.

My first ever blog

I wish I knew what I was doing. Normal then!

So, I've been umming and ahhing about setting up a blog.
I don't do enough to keep a diary of life here. Oscar and Jasmine are coming up to great milestones.

Oscar is talking a lot and learning new things each day.

Jasmine is about to enter the wonderful world of real food. I think it would be lovely to keep a record of this.
Span is doing typically well but thats not new, but good of course.

And me, well I seem to be starting lots of new things. Lets hope I finish some of them!

Right, I'll finish this now, so I can have a look and see what this blog can do.
Thanks for reading
Vic xx
